Over a hundred years ago, in 1899, Joe Drinkwater, a prospector and trapper, discovered Della Falls and named them for his wife. He staked claims at the turn of the century where he built an
aerial tramway which still hangs today. There are piles of rocks dispersed in the gullies near the flooded mine shafts along with rusted buckets, shovels and pipes mixed in with the wild flowers.
