The Love Lake Trail is in rough shape. Nobody made it yet much further than the first look out. There are streams coming down the mountain where it’s usually dry.
The snow is melting quick and Della is doing great.

We took the trail up to Della and everything was great!
A few tricky spots finding the path if you don’t cross the broken bridge. We went further upstream and crossed with a rope. Crossing was ok – pretty strong water up to about hip level, but fine other than that.
Not much snow left and the falls were huge!
Love Lake Trail would have been passable up to the first look out to get a view, but we were too tired to go.

First part, from the trail head to Margaret Creek is pretty boggy + lots of Mosquitos to munch on. Past Margaret Creek bugs aren’t the problem.
Now to the river crossing where the bridge is damaged. Head 400m upstream to the crossing; the river was 3′-4′ deep and running fast + strong. Bring a good 30m rope, or skip all that, and try your luck crossing on a down tree just left to the bridge.
Six of us couldn’t find Good Camp (maybe under water) or any decent campsites to Della Falls Camp. The snow was gone and the falls were gushing.
Went and looked for Love Lake, got 3/4 of the way + couldn’t find the trail – too much snow. There was a lot of blow down.
So besides being wet most of the time, it was a great hike.

The trail is OK to the broken bridge, the safe crossing is 400m above the bridge.
There is patchy snow passed the steel bridge, then the snow get deeper into the main base camp.
The last group in made it up 3/4 of the way to Love lake. Love lake is still frozen and deep snow on top of trail.
Most people are camping at Margaret creek and day packing from there. Good camp will be ok to camp very soon.
Della Falls is run good right now and the flow will get better in the next three weeks. This is a class #2 trail – a 30 m rope will help crossing the Drinkwater creek.
No snow on the trail until the steel bridge, after that it is patchy for bit, then to much snow to find the trail. You can see the falls from there. Della Falls is just starting but very little yet. Only two people have tried to go in, so far. The lower part of the trail is very wet right now, but the rain will get the melt going. The creeks will run hard for a few weeks . You should have a 30m rope to cross the creek 400m above the bridge that is rolled over. Safety First. It’s a #2 trail .
